Doing the Right Thing

Doing the Right Thing
Doing the right thing is usually hard. I experience this all the time. I have tried to be honest and then gotten taken advantage of. I have treated people right and then gotten mistreated. So why bother to keep on trying?
I believe in the Golden Rule and treating others fairly. I guess sometimes you just have to be the better person. Whether you believe in God, religion, or Karma, I would say that what goes around does come around.
Stay strong and keep doing the right thing. It may not seem to be worth it, but in the long run you will have lived your life positively and hopefully made someone else’s life better!

  1. It is very hard to do the right thing sometimes when what is “wrong” is easier to do. I try my best to do the right thing.

  2. You are quite right. Sometimes doing the right can lead you to be taken advantaged of but there are times when it will help you.

  3. Like you, being “nice” does sometimes get me taken advantage of, but the negativity I experience from those rare times is more than offset by the positive karma all the rest of the time!

  4. It is not always the right thing, but I believe in doing the nice thing. My husbands says I am sometimes a Pollyanna, but I never have regretted being nice instead of the alternative when a choice was possible!

    1. It is a fine balance to being nice and not getting taken advantage of, but you are right- no regrets in doing the right thing!

  5. I strongly agree with you. While we may not see it right then, doing the right thing is always right. It shows your true character.

  6. Yeah, people a lot better than me, are treated a lot worse. Best I can do, is be in control of my actions, and emotions, and treat people the way I know I should. In the end, the only thing I can be accountable is myself, and my reactions.
