Today is National Kindness Day!

edited multi Hands_10

A lot people usually think of acts of kindness around the Holidays. I would like to think that we can do things for others at any time of the year. I have compiled a list of 25 things you can do as an act of kindness. Hopefully there are a few that you might not have thought of. Pick one or all, and spread the kindness all through the year.

Help a coworker with a big project-offer your time so they don’t have to work late.

Thank your mail carrier with a thank you note or drink (hot chocolate in winter; cold water in summer)

Donate used books to the library

Forward email coupons to a friend if you can’t use them

Give a ride to someone in need

Let someone go ahead of you in line

Do the survey on your receipts and compliment an employee

Become an organ donor

Shop Farmer’s Markets in your community

Share your garden produce with neighbors or a food bank

Make someone laugh

Give a hug

Leave a dollar on the vending machine for the next person

Offer to be the designated driver at a party

Leave that close parking spot for someone else and walk a little further

If you travel, bring a little souvenir to someone who wouldn’t expect it and brighten their day.

Go caroling or sing at a nursing home

Send a note of appreciation to anyone in your life that may need a pick me up

Bring a meal to the family of a friend that may be under the weather

Pay for someone behind you, whether at the store, coffee shop or drive-thru

Donate your hair to charity

Practice being nice on the road to other drivers

Adopt a soldier

Do a fundraiser or help out for your favorite charity

Be a parking meter angel- put coins in meters so they don’t expire

  1. It’s a shame you don’t have a donate button! I’d
definitely donate to this superb blog! I guess
for now i’ll settle for bookmarking and adding your RSS feed to my Google account.
I look forward to brand new updates and will talk about this site
with my Facebook group. Talk soon!

  2. Great site you have here but I was wondering if you knew of any message
boards that cover the same topics discussed here?

I’d really like to be a part of community where I can get feedback from
other experienced people that share the same interest.
If you have any recommendations, please let me know.
    Kudos!

  3. These are all great ideas…I do several of them on a regular basis. Another thing I do is make cards for our soldiers to send home to their families and I also send cards to our wounded warriors and for terminally ill children.

  4. Always be kind! You never know what someone else is going through. I remember one time last month during finals week, I went to Starbucks to get some coffee and study. I remember how stressed out I was, but when the barista said she loved my coat and asked wear I got it from, that little compliment brightened my day and even made me distress and focus better.

  5. Any time is a good time to be kind. Any time is a good time to be friendly. Life is short, life is hard, and life is busy. If we wait for the perfect moment for things, then we will miss out on so much beauty that the world has to offer.

  6. Some great suggestions. If everybody were to try to do just one of these everyday what a better world we would all live in. Thanks for the inspiration.

  7. There are a lot of things you can do to be kind, but the one I need to work on is NOT saying something about someone unless it is kind. So often we find ourselves in a funk, stewing about how awful someone is for some reason or another. My resolution this year is to not say anything about someone unless it is something good.

  8. Such a great idea! One thing I am trying to do for 2015 is to help others be kind by never saying something bad about anybody – amazing how that negativity can spread before you know it!

  9. Those are lovely deeds. I encourage dog lovers to adopt instead of shop. And especially advise them to think twice when they have the idea of adopting during the holidays. Pets are forever friends, not only holiday items.

  10. You are right! any time is the best time. I try to be kind as often as I can. Treat others as I want to be treated 🙂
